Where Do You Rank as a Network Marketing Leader?
Over the past years, I’ve had the opportunity to observe leadership, particularly as it pertains to the Network Marketing industry. And the more I observed these people, those who are a cut above the rest, those 3 Percenters that I so often talk about on this blog, several characteristics or “methods of doing business” have stood out.
What do guys like Mike Dillard, Jay Kubassek, Aaron Parkinson, and Mark Weiser all have in common? Besides being pretty damn wealthy, I mean!
Today I would like to share some of the leadership traits that I find particularly important.
As you’re reading through this list, compare yourself and where you are in your life and your business.
How do you measure up?
I would venture to say that the more traits you share with the top leaders in the industry, the closer you are to becoming the LEADER that others will follow.
After all, it’s not about who is selling the best products or which company has the most lucarative compensation plan… it’s ALL ABOUT LEADERSHIP.
People join leaders in Network Marketing, not companies.
Without further adieu,
These are the Top 10 Leadership Traits Commonly Found in Those That Dominate Network Marketing:
- Leaders hold themselves ACCOUNTABLE. They set daily, weekly, and monthly goals and hold themselves accountable to these goals. They do not require others to keep them on task. Leaders are SELF-MOTIVATED
- Leaders are SELF-DISCIPLINED. Almost all leaders I have ever met have a “daily method of operation” and are disciplined about completing each task.
- Leaders are VISIONARY. Leaders have a clear vision of why their business enterprise is important to them. Possibly even more importantly, leaders see possibilities that others may not. They are extremely open to exploring new ideas.
- Leaders are RISK TAKERS. They are not afraid to risk a lot to potentially gain even more. They are courageous in their dreams.
- Leaders do NOT RECOGNIZE FAILURE. Rather, they see each “failure” as important information for their next attempt, which they’re sure will be successful.
- Leaders OVERCOME OBSTACLES. They do not let setbacks stop them, but move around them and find alternative ways to achieve their goals.
- Leaders are CONFIDENT and SELF-ASSURED. They do not seek nor do they need the approval of others. Leaders are confident of their skills and their ability to help others attain a high level of success.
- Leaders DO NOT WORK HARD, they WORK SMART. Leaders understand the 80/20 rule — that 80% of their results will come from 20% of their efforts (income producing activities), and they adjust their work emphasis accordingly. Leaders are not afraid to OUTSOURCE or DELEGATE less important activities.
- Leaders continually STRIVE TO LEARN new things. They are always striving to improve their lives in any way possible through knowledge. Leaders never stop learning.
- Leaders are HUMBLE. True leaders never forget what is was like when they were not initially successful. Leaders are GRACIOUS for their success and THANKFUL for the opportunity to truly help others.
How do you stack up? Give yourself 1 point for each other the above traits that you feel you display.
Most people probably rank about a 2-3 on this scale if they’re very honest with themselves. I think if you rank 5 or above, you are well on your way to becoming the leader others will follow.
Rank an 8-9?

The ONE Quality That Separates The Top Earners From The Also Rans
I attended a Wealth Conference last week in beautiful, sunny Marco Island, FL. At this conference, we received a lot of great financial information and investment tips, things that will change the way I invest and grow my money during these tough economic times.
At every Conference, you hope to pick up a few “gold nuggets” that will change your life positively in some way, either in marketing, finance, or some other phase of your life.
So I attended this Wealth Conference, figuring that the gold nuggets I received would be something in the area of investing or wealth creation. And true to form, I received many at this Conference.
But I also received a gold nugget for my marketing business, one that I was not expecting nor even looking for.
Rosemary and I went down to Marco Island a day early to enjoy the sun and warm weather (leaving behind the 20 degree deep freeze of New York City!). We decided to go for a stroll on the beach, and along the way we ran into Mr. Greg Davison.
Greg is a friend from our network marketing opportunity, and he is one of the top earners in our company. We started chatting with Greg about our business, and he graciously spent about 30 minutes dissecting our business with us: what we were doing, what we were not doing, how we went about this and that.
It’s a real eye opener when you actually describe what you do to someone else!
After a while, Greg got a really serious look on his face, told us that we were doing everything that top earners do to succeed in network marketing.
Except for one thing.
And it is this ONE THING that most people in network marketing and MLM miss.. and why they ultimately crash and burn.
Your ready?
Here is what Greg told me.
He said that we lacked POSTURE. Hmmmm…….
At first I thought maybe I was slouching or hunched over.
But he went on to explain that he was talking about POSITIONING, how you present yourself to others looking at your opportunity. In other words, PRESENCE.
It’s the one quality that all top earners have, and it’s probably the hardest to acquire.
Why?
Because it’s more of a mindset issue than simply a matter of studying a marketing technique.
It’s believing that you are a TRUE LEADER, and someone who can help almost ANYONE succeed in your business opportunity.
It’s about having that presence or posture that your time is valuable, you only work with people really serious about making money, and if that’s not you, step aside.
It’s not arrogance. It’s not meanness.
It’s a kind of cockiness (but in a good way), extreme self confidence that you are the leader this person has been looking for.
So how do you acquire PRESENCE?
As with most anything else in Network Marketing and life, for that matter…. it’s a PROCESS.
A process that starts with knowledge, continues with experience, and ends with the mindset of self assurance and leadership.
So as the Conference continued, I cornered several of the top earners in our company.
I asked them one simple question.
“Is there any material I can study to push me closer to attaining that PRESENCE or POSTURE? Some product out there that made a difference to you, a top earner as you made your way to the top?”
One product was mentioned by EVERY SINGLE PERSON I SPOKE WITH.
The Magnetic Sponsoring product, BLACKBELT RECRUITING, by Mike Dillard.
Each person specifically mentioned this product as being one of the reasons that they developed the presence they needed to get and stay at the top.
So I purchased Blackbelt Recruiting, it arrived today, and guess what I’LL be doing all weekend.
I can’t wait to dive into it.
I’ll let you know what I think.
Not sure if I will be putting it on my Recommended Resource list just yet.
We’ll see.
So don’t run out and buy it just yet. But you can get a FREE VIDEO from Mike DIllard about some of the things we’ve been discussing today.
Just go to this Blackbelt Recruiting page and click on the link for the FREE VIDEO.
They are terrific!
To your success!

This is the business that I make my wealth.
