There are always a handful of people who make the MOST MONEY.

You know who they are….

• They are the ones who always have a crowd of people around them at the company meetings.
• They are the ones on stage getting all the awards and accolades.
• They are the ones who are succeeding while 97% of the other reps in your business are struggling.

They are…. Your Company’s TOP EARNERS!

So how do YOU get to be a top earner?

Well, there’s a lot of talk about this right now, and I’ve done some serious studying of the top earners that I know.

I mean, I’ve just flat out ASKED THEM what their tricks are…

– Some kind of secret marketing strategy?

– Some secret script they have to persuade people to join them?

– Some top secret brew that they drink?

And you know what?  It really only comes down to one thing…

and if  all network marketers understood this, they’d all be a whole lot happier.

Yesterday didn’t start out as such a great day.

Rosemary and I were driving through a small town, minding our own business when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw what every motorist dreads…. the flashing of police car lights.

Surely he wasn’t after me!  So I pulled to the side of the road to let him by, and to my surprise, he pulled up behind me.  CRAP!

To make a long story short, he had stopped me for going through a red light.  I know in my heart that I was NOT guilty, but I wasn’t going to challenge this guy.  He looked MEAN!

With his spiffy uniform, gun belt, and reflective sun glasses so you couldn’t tell what he was looking at, he was the essence of intimidating.  He had AUTHORITY!

At least to me he did.  But why? 

What gives someone authority? 

In this case, it was fairly clear.  He had my attention immediately for what he represents — the Law!   And for the misery he could potentially cause in my life — ticket, points, even a trip downtown to the precinct if I was stupid enough to challenge him.

But what about online? 

What makes someone an authority online?

This is a much cloudier picture than the cop about to write you a ticket. 

I came across this free PDF at one of my favorite sites, Copyblogger.com.  It is aptly titled Authority Rules, and I urge anyone looking to establish online authority to go to the site, print out the PDF, and carry it around with you.  

It is a great resource on how to build authority even when you have none at the moment.

I often see people interested in starting a home based business spend an inordinate amount of time “sponsor shopping”.  Surfing the Internet searching for the “perfect” sponsor can be both time consuming and very confusing.

It’s confusing because people don’t really know what or who they’re looking for.

Which brings me to the key point of this blog post —

What kind of sponsor should you be looking for?

Should you be looking for….

• the person who makes the most money in this company?
• the person with ties to the company leadership?
• the person newer to the industry who will be able to spend a lot of time holding your hand?
• the person who is most like you in temperament?

While all of these choices might, on the surface seem logical, these are not the characteristics or ingredients you should look for in a sponsor.

So what SHOULD you look for?

It’s very  simple, but it took me a while to figure it out.

And before I did, I was exactly the WRONG kind of sponsor, not really helping my team or their businesses.

You want a sponsor with one key character trait —>

You want someone is going to TELL YOU THE TRUTH.

Tell it like it is.  No sugar coating.

You want someone to tell you what you NEED to hear, not what you want to hear.

This is what Rosemary and I tell everyone who joins our team:

We’ll do what we can to help you make the kind of money you want, but it’s going to be one of the most challenging things you’ve done in your life. It will take work, money, time, and occasionally getting out of your comfort zone.

We will never do the work for you. We won’t give you all the answers. But we WILL show you where to look for the solutions to what’s holding you back.

In other words, we will help you become LEADERS, not someone just blindly following a system. There’s little doubt that you can make money following the Carbon Copy PRO system.

But you can make BIG MONEY by being a leader.

That’s where we come in.

So what kind of sponsor should you be looking for?

• Not the biggest money earner

• Not the easiest to get along with

• Not the one who will hold your hand

You want a person who will help you when you need it by showing you HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM ON YOUR OWN.

You want a person who will STRATEGIZE with you, not do it for you.

You want a sponsor who will help you to develop your LEADERSHIP SKILLS.

You want a sponsor who will EMPOWER YOU TO LEAD, not enable you to follow.

You see the difference?
